Berit Bizjak Photography: Wedding Photography FAQ

Choosing your wedding photographer comes with questions, and you should feel comfortable asking them. Here are answers to some of the questions couples ask me most often about planning, photography, and what to expect when we work together.

What happens if you’re sick on my wedding day?

If illness prevents me from photographing your wedding, you will be covered by a photographer of similar skill and experience at no additional cost to you. I will handle the post-processing and deliverables outlined in our contract. Having a plan in place means you have one less thing to worry about

Can we see a full wedding gallery similar to the wedding we are planning?

Absolutely. I recommend reviewing full galleries from any photographer you are considering. Look for weddings with lighting, weather, and settings similar to yours, and a schedule similar to yours. Also, notice whether the camera flash is too harsh or noticeable for your style. A photographer does not need to have worked at your exact venue to create a full gallery that gives you a useful sense of their work. An experienced professional photographer should be prepared and able to work in any venue or location.

Who will be our second photographer?

I work with qualified, experienced photographers whom I know well. Each is an accomplished photographer in their own right, and I choose people who have a similar style to mine and who I trust to work alongside me on your wedding day.

What happens if our wedding runs late?

I include unlimited wedding day coverage through the end of your reception as baseline coverage. If there are shifts in your timeline, you do not need to worry about an hourly cutoff.

How do you approach family and wedding party photos?

Family photos are a collaborative process between you, your planner, and me. Before the wedding, we discuss the groupings, timing, location, and style of these photographs so everyone knows what to expect and we can use the time thoughtfully and efficiently,

How do you back up our wedding photographs?

After photographing your wedding, I download the image files to duplicate hard drives. Your final, optimized, high-resolution JPEG photographs are also saved to a cloud server. I recommend that, once in your possession, you also back them up to a cloud service for longevity.

How long will it take for our portraits?

As little or as much time as you would like, within your wedding-day timeline. We plan this together beforehand, including which parts of the celebration you don’t want to miss. The goal is to make photographs you love while giving you time to enjoy your wedding.

How do you prepare to photograph our wedding?

In one sense, I’ve been preparing since I began photographing weddings in 1998. Experience, calm, organization, and refined skills all come with me. For your wedding, preparation typically takes a full day for a local celebration and three to five days for a destination wedding. That work helps me arrive ready to focus on you.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

We work with it! Rain and moody light can make beautiful photographs, and your comfort guides what we do. We can also plan a separate portrait session on another day at no additional photography charge, with the details arranged together.

Will you share our wedding photographs on social media and your website?

I often share wedding photographs on my website portfolio and social media, subject to the permissions set out in our agreement. If privacy is important to you, please let me know so we can discuss your preferences and document any restrictions, including an NDA where appropriate.

What if our officiant restricts photography during the ceremony?

We discuss ceremony photography guidelines with you, your planner, and your officiant in advance. Knowing the restrictions beforehand allows me to plan my approach while respecting the ceremony and the officiant’s requirements, ensuring we are all aligned.

How noticeable will you be during our wedding?

I aim to be as unobtrusive as possible while photographing what is happening around you. We will interact most during portraits and family photos, when a little direction helps everyone feel comfortable and keeps things moving.

What is your most important advice for couples planning a wedding?

Choose experienced professionals whose work you trust and whose company you enjoy. You will spend a meaningful part of your wedding day with your team. Hiring an experienced wedding planner early in the process is one of my strongest recommendations. Their guidance can make planning and the day itself much easier.

What if my partner and I are shy in front of the camera?

You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose. An engagement session is a wonderful way for us to get acquainted and for you to experience how I photograph and guide you. What matters most is that you feel comfortable working with me. We can talk through any concerns before your wedding.

Do you have another question?

I would love to hear about your wedding, what you are planning, and what matters most to you. I’m happy to answer your questions and discuss the photography coverage that fits your celebration.

“Berit’s pictures are absolutely amazing and she is so easy to work with. She had so many creative ideas for all of the shots to truly capture the uniqueness of the space and the feel of the day. We regularly flip through our album and the pictures really do the tell the story and capture the emotions of our favorite day. We would highly recommend her to anyone!”

Christine and Jerry embraced the winter weather for both their engagement photos and the wedding day. They had a precise and creative vision for both, which always makes me happy as we collaborate together. Christine’s gorgeous custom-made Vera Wang gown caught the winter light just perfectly. We did some of the photos in downtown Hoboken, where the couple lives, and the rest on the beautiful mountain top at Natirar.
